The Leonardo project looks at the mechanisms of interdisciplinary interactions between art and science in the Leonardo Journal (MIT Press), and their evolution from 1968 to the present day.

Its objective is to analyze, thanks in particular to artificial intelligence, the development of relations between art and science not only from texts, but also from published images, and thus to propose new methodologies for the analysis of journals. The specificity of the project is based on three points: an innovative theoretical framework (culture analytics), an international multidisciplinary team (art history, cultural history, mathematics, computer science), and an intensive working method (data sprints).

I initiated this project and brought the team together as part of the Culture Analytics Long Program at UCLA/IPAM. It has received support from IPAM (organization of a workshop in 2018), Leonardo ISAST, and MIT Press. In 2019, he obtained funding from the research and prospective pole at the Fondation Maison des Sciences de l’Homme (FMSH) on digital humanities and artificial intelligence.

Le projet Leonardo s’intéresse aux mécanismes des interactions interdisciplinaires entre l’art et la science dans la revue Leonardo (MIT Press), et à leur évolution de 1968 à aujourd’hui. Son objectif est d’analyser, grâce notamment à l’intelligence artificielle, l’évolution des relations arts/sciences non seulement à partir des textes, mais également des images publiés, et de proposer ainsi de nouvelles méthodologies pour l’analyse des journaux.
